An extensive analysis on the area of property for the Ageing population developed by Pi Labs Property Innovation highlights one of the biggest challenges for our society and provides an interesting point of view on our role as property developers with the power to transform spaces for the people who will occupy them.
According to a report by the United Nations, the growth projection for the ageing population aged 60 or more is increasing from 962 million (in 2007) to 2.1 billion by 2050. The number of people aged 80 and over will increase from 425 million (in 2050) to 909 million by 2100. The expectations now for age-appropriate accommodation is raising the bar for communities, governments, but especially for the property industry, and at the same time, it opens up an opportunity to innovate and design urban property and neighbourhoods for the future.
