This development involved a complicated, part freehold and part leasehold site assembly. A new lease was negotiated with MCC to allow redevelopment. Outline planning was granted for a 106 unit mixed-use scheme with retail on the ground floor, a double storey basement car park and six floors of residential accommodation above. The development was sold to a third party and re-worked schemes were approved for planning including a 28 storey tower designed by Ian Simpson Architects with full leisure facilities and gardens on the higher floors. Recently, planning permission for a hotel scheme was granted on the site as part of the wider regeneration of Angel Meadows and the NOMA Masterplan.
